Epithelial surgery of the tailbone is performed on the fistula or pilonidal sinus of the tailbone (Sinus pilonidalis) case.
It is a disease characterised by chronic inflammation, cysts and subcutaneous epithelial passages in the tailbone region.
During surgery, the cysts and/or epithelial passages are removed, relieving the symptoms of the disease.

Postoperative period

The post-operative period depends on how the surgery goes and your general health.
Our surgeon will tell you about the expected recovery process during your consultation.
It is usually possible to go home after surgery, but your doctor may recommend 1-2 days in hospital.
You will be able to stand up and walk independently from the first day after surgery.
After the operation, it is recommended that you rest for 2 weeks.
Avoid going to the sauna and bath for 4 weeks after surgery.
During this period, you must not do any strenuous physical exercise or lift weights of more than 5 kg.

Before surgery, you may need to consult an anaesthetist and have several tests, such as blood tests, lung X-rays and an electrocardiogram.
