Gynecology

Gynecology is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the female reproductive system. The Baltic Surgery Center offers consultations, diagnostic services, and state-of-the-art surgical treatment.

Most surgeries are performed laparoscopically—through a few small incisions. This means less pain, a shorter hospital stay, and a faster return to daily life.

Seeking medical advice early on helps pinpoint the exact cause of the problem and choose the gentlest form of treatment.

Symptoms

When should you see a gynecologist?

Many gynecological conditions can persist for a long time without any noticeable symptoms. A consultation is recommended if you notice:

Pain in the lower abdomen or pelvic area
Painful or irregular periods
Heavy or prolonged bleeding
Bleeding between periods or after menopause
Pain During Sexual Intercourse
Difficulty Getting Pregnant
Urinary incontinence or a feeling of heaviness in the pelvic area
A palpable mass in the lower abdomen
Important! Even if you have no symptoms, it is recommended that you have a preventive gynecological exam at least once a year. Many conditions, including fibroids and ovarian cysts, do not cause any symptoms at first.

Without a fuss

Should I be worried about gynecological surgery?

Many patients put off their appointments because they are afraid of the possibility of surgery. However, modern gynecological surgery is very different from the common perception of major surgery.

Most procedures are performed laparoscopically, and patients stay in the hospital for one to three days. Early diagnosis often makes it possible to avoid surgery altogether or to choose the least invasive method available.

  • Surgeries are performed under anesthesia—you won't feel any pain
  • Small cuts and barely noticeable scars
  • Hospital stay: usually 1–3 days
  • For light work — within 1–2 weeks
  • Fertility-preserving methods
