Electroablation of anal condylomata

During the procedure, an electric current is used to remove anal condyloma, or warts.

Duration: a few minutes.

After the procedure: There may be some discomfort for 3-4 days after the procedure.

Excision of a rectal fistula

During surgery, a rectal fistula – a small canal that forms between the rectum and the skin near the anus – is surgically treated.
The aim of the surgery is to prevent damage to the sphincter muscle caused by the insula, which can lead to faecal incontinence.
Excision of the rectal fistula is performed under full anaesthesia.

Duration: 20-30 minutes.30 minutes – 20 minutes After treatment: There may be some discomfort for 3-4 days after the procedure.
It is most often possible to go home a few hours after surgery.

TREMS

TREMS (Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery) is an operation to remove a benign or malignant tumour from the rectum.
It does not involve cutting out part of the rectum or making incisions in the abdomen.
The operation is performed under full anaesthesia.

Duration: 20-30 minutesAfter treatment: You may be advised to stay in hospital overnight after surgery.
Immediately after surgery you will be allowed to get up on your feet and walk independently, you will be allowed to eat and drink.
There may be slight discomfort and a liquid abdomen for 3-4 days after surgery.

Sphincteroplasty

During surgery, the injured or weakened anal sphincter muscles are rebuilt to restore normal bowel function and prevent faecal incontinence.Duration: 1-2 hoursAfter the procedure: It is most often possible to go home a few hours after surgery.
After surgery, it is recommended to rest for 1-2 weeks.
The healing period lasts on average 6 weeks.

Excision or sphincterotomy of anal fissure

During surgery, tears in the anal area are treated. Duration: 1-2 hoursAfter the procedure: It is most often possible to go home a few hours after surgery.
After surgery, it is recommended to rest for 1-2 weeks.
The healing period lasts on average 6 weeks.

How to prepare for proctological surgery?

Before surgery, you may need to consult an anaesthetist and have several tests, such as blood tests, a lung X-ray and an electrocardiogram.
